The Soil Level is Crucial for Drainage

Leveling your yard for correct drainage is an important step in maintaining a healthy lawn and preventing water damage to your home's foundation. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Identify low spots: Walk around your yard and look for any areas that are lower than the surrounding areas. These low spots can cause water to pool and can lead to damage to your lawn and home's foundation.

  2. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a shovel, a wheelbarrow, a level, and topsoil or sand.

  3. Remove the existing grass: Use a shovel or a sod cutter to remove the existing grass in the low spots. Place the sod in a wheelbarrow and dispose of it.

  4. Add topsoil or sand: Fill the low spots with topsoil or sand until the area is level with the surrounding soil. Use a level to ensure that the area is completely level.

  5. Compact the soil: Use a roller or a plate compactor to compact the soil. This will prevent the soil from settling over time.

  6. Resod the area: Once the soil is compacted, you can resod the area with Sodfather's Kentucky Bluegrass Sod. Water the area thoroughly to help the grass sod establish.

  7. Maintain the area: Keep the newly sodded area moist by watering it regularly. Avoid walking on the area until the grass is well established.

By following these steps, you can level your yard for correct drainage and help prevent water damage to your home's foundation.
